Abstract:
Today, when the furniture manufacturers are seeking for new market segments, the authors come with the proposal of re-introducing the marquetry technique for furniture decoration. Based on the knowledge of the artistical styles which used this technique in time, the authors launch the idea of supplying „in an envelope” standardized composition elements, in order to obtain different decorations at a high productivity rate. Marquetry, as a component of the inlay technique, uses different types of materials, adding thus colour and beauty to the produced pieces of furniture and making more evident the decorations as in comparison with those obtained by intarsia.

Key words: marquetry, furniture, decoration techniques.
