Abstract:
The paper represents a study concerning the permeability to liquids for three wood species, namely alder, poplar and acacia. The permeability determination for the three species has been done for water, taking into account the fact that, when measuring the discharge time through the viscosity-measuring basket 1988, series 103 NTR: E2652/1-82, close results have been obtained for water-based coloring solutions and water. The study has been done for the research and further explanation of wood coloring behaviour of the three species.

Key words: water permeability, wood, alder, poplar, acacia
