Abstract:
This paper presents the experimental results based on the researches carried out in the laboratory phase, concerning the jellification at temperature of 1000C of a new synthetic resin, named urea-formaldehyde resin URELIT S type, produced and sold by SC VIROMET SA VICTORIA Company.
This study used as reference products the resins type URELIT PN and ADEZIV G, both produced by the same company; these products are usually used for hot gluing of different wooden products. For this purpose various catalyst in different amounts were added as salts and acids, both in solid state and aqueous solutions.
The jellification time at 1000C for the new resin UF URELIT S type is shorter than that for the reference products despite it solids content is reduced with 50%.
For the new resin it can be obtained a jellification time of maximum 60 seconds at 1000C (accepted for the reference resins) by adding 1% of oxalic acid, 3% ammonium chloride, or 8% ammonium sulphate both in solid state. The same effect could be obtained by using additives like: 10% ammonium chloride, or oxalic acid solutions with the concentrations of about 15% and 10% respectively, as well as sulphuric acid and chlorine hydride 15% concentrations.

Key word: urea- formaldehyde resins URELIT S, URELIT PN and ADEZIV G, reactivity GT.
