PASSPORTS AND VISAS
Every visitor entering Romania must have a valid passport or an ID card for EU citizens. Delegates from countries requiring a visa should apply to the Romanian consular office or diplomatic mission in their country prior to departure. For details, participants should contact their local travel agents or carriers.
CURRENCY EXCHANGE
Only Romanian lei (RON) are acceptable at regular stores and restaurants. Certain foreign currencies and credit cards may be accepted at a limited number of hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Lei (RON) can be purchased at foreign exchange banks (open 9:00 - 17:00, Monday through Friday) and other authorized money exchangers on presentation of your passport (app. 4,5 RON for 1 Euro).
TRAVELLER'S CHECKS AND CREDIT CARDS
Traveler's checks are not as popular in Romania as in other countries and are accepted only by banks and major hotels in principal cities. Master Card, Visa, Maestro Card are widely accepted at hotels, department stores, shops, restaurants and nightclubs.
ELECTRICAL POWER
Romania operates on 220 volts for electrical appliances. The frequency is 50 Hz.
INSURANCE
Conference organizers are not taking responsibility for individual, medical, travel or personal insurance, and participants are advised to ensure their own insurance policies.
CLIMATE
Situated in the South-East of Transilvania, Brasov is surrounded from three directions by mountains (East, South, and West). The climate is continental- temperate. November is the last month of autumn season. The average day temperature in November is about 9 degrees Celsius in Brasov.
